Laurie L

Laurie graduated with a degree in Human Kinetics from the University of Guelph in 1994, followed by a Bachelor of Health Science in Physiotherapy from McMaster University in 1998. She began her career working in complex inpatient hospital units, where she gained extensive experience managing a wide range of acute conditions in a large hospital setting.

After relocating to Northern Ontario, Laurie expanded her expertise in orthopaedics within a small community hospital. She later returned to Southern Ontario, joining Southlake Health in 2010, treating and helping patients in post injury and surgical rehabilitation.  Along the way, Laurie’s interest in rheumatology continued to grow, ultimately leading her to join the interdisciplinary team at CArE.

Committed to ongoing professional development, Laurie has pursued advanced training in arthritis care, acupuncture, bone health, manual therapy, and hydrotherapy. In 2021, she became a credentialed McKenzie therapist. She has also participated in numerous workshops, courses, and seminars to continually enhance her ability to support her patients.

Laurie is passionate about helping individuals move better, with less pain through education, as well as targeted exercise and movement strategies—regardless of diagnosis. Her patient-centered approach combines evidence-based practice with a genuine enthusiasm for empowering people to achieve their functional goals and restore optimal function.

In her spare time, Laurie enjoys spending time with family and friends, traveling, listening to music, all forms of exercise, cycling, and hiking.
