The CArE Patient and Family Advisory Council (PFAC) partners with patients, families, caregivers, staff, and leadership to help ensure that the patient voice remains central to care delivery, program development, and organizational planning. PFAC serves in an advisory capacity to support patient-centred care, quality improvement, and positive patient experiences across CArE.

PFAC Responsibilities Include:

  • Providing patient and family perspectives on programs, services, and care delivery processes
  • Advising on policies, procedures, and initiatives that impact patients and families
  • Reviewing and providing feedback on patient education and informational materials
  • Supporting quality improvement and patient-centred care initiatives
  • Helping strengthen communication and collaboration between patients, families, and the CArE team
  • Participating in consultation, feedback, and program planning activities
  • Supporting recruitment and engagement of Patient and Family Advisors (PFAs)
  • Promoting an environment where patients and families feel valued, heard, and included in decision-making
  • Supporting CArE in meeting patient engagement and quality improvement obligations under the Excellent Care for All Act
