Patrick recently retired as the Director of Research and Innovation, at Southlake Regional Health Centre and CreateIT Now the Southlake on campus health innovation center. Patrick’s responsibilities included 1/oversight of research operations and 2/ advancing innovation and commercialization activities and culture building, through collaborations with industry, academia, funders, and key partners.
Patrick led Southlake’s innovation and commercialization strategy including growing partnerships/collaborations with private sector ventures (350+) wishing to evaluate/validate health technologies with clinicians in an acute care, large community hospital. Twelve million in funding flowed through CreateIT Now. Patrick was also engaged in Southlake’s health sector leadership role in value/outcome based, procurement.
Patrick was highly focused on the intersection of innovation and care delivery models and in previous leadership work led initiatives related to interprofessional and transdisciplinary care delivery models. Patrick also retired from his role as a clinician in emergency mental health at Oak Valley Health and performs occasional work for Southlake post-retirement and maintains a variety of voluntary sector leadership roles. He holds a BA, BSW, BEd, MSW and his RSW designation.
