Janet brings several perspectives to her role as a board member: a person who lives with arthritis (diagnosed in mid 20s); a researcher who has supported arthritis research, including partnering with The Arthritis Program at Southlake Regional Health Centre; and as a retired health professional educator (nursing) and administrator (Director of the School of Nursing, York University).
She has worked with students and colleagues from diverse backgrounds and understands needs cannot only be similar, but also can be unique. Janet’s experience leading the Research Volunteer Program at Southlake afforded her the opportunity to partner with a variety of clinical experts and facilitate their projects conducted by research volunteers
(of which she was one).
She wants to provide support and direction to CArE based on her professional experience in academia, understanding of the health care system, and lived experience. I believe I bring a unique set of experiences and expertise to this Board.
