Urgent Care Clinic and How to Access the Urgent Care Clinic

The Centre of Arthritis Excellence (CArE) is pleased to offer an Urgent Assessment Clinic designed to support timely access to care for patients experiencing acute inflammatory arthritis symptoms and related urgent rheumatologic concerns.

This clinic provides rapid assessment for patients who may require urgent rheumatology evaluation and early intervention.

Referrals are required and can be submitted by a healthcare provider using the CArE referral form. For more information, please contact the Centre of Arthritis Excellence directly.

In addition to urgent assessment services, CArE continues to provide non-urgent referrals through our Early Access Clinic, as well as therapeutic education programs for patients living with inflammatory arthritis, osteoarthritis, osteoporosis, and fibromyalgia.

Appropriate referrals may include patients with:

  • Suspected rheumatoid arthritis or other autoimmune inflammatory arthritis
  • Acute crystal arthritis
  • Acute systemic inflammatory conditions such as PMR, GCA, or vasculitis
  • Undiagnosed patients experiencing an acute inflammatory flare

The Urgent Assessment Clinic is intended for acute inflammatory conditions and is not designed for chronic gout, longstanding osteoarthritis, or acute low back pain.

Patients referred to the clinic will be assessed by our specialized team to help ensure timely diagnosis, treatment, and appropriate follow-up care.
